Day 406 - Monday, Autum, memories...
Digital, 2005
Dull, gray autumn day. Low heavy closed sky. Humid and cold air. But the grass, fed with the rains of the last days, it's greener than ever and very dense. A cold, fresh, wet, almost metallic green. October is marching slowly to its end. The forest nearby is silent, opaque and dark. Its like the darkness of the night is coming out of the forest like a smoke without fire, a black dense fog. The gray light desaturates everything in my sight. I feel like I would sleep until next spring and dream a whole different life.

Day 405 - Lolita for TABU
Model: Raluca Negrea at Unique Model Zurich
So, here it is: the November issue of TABU magazine is out now containing the editorial made by Lolita as a model for the fashion designer Adrian Oianu. From all 5 images shot by the designer himself and selected for the magazine, this is my favorite. A great portrait, I think.

Day 401 - Alexandra Maria Lara
Well, in 2005 I had the chance to be invited at a short interviews session for press held by this wonderful woman and actress, Alexandra Maria Lara. She is an international German movie star, Romanian by origin (she was born in Romania, on 12 November 1978). She is one of my favorite beauties and no doubt one of the most talented young actresses. She was internationally acclaimed - both by public and critic - for her lead role in "Der Untergang" ("The Downfall") movie about the last days of Adolf Hitler. Alexandra was playing the role of Traudl Junge, Hitler's secretary. Also, you had the chance to admire her playing the role Suzie in "I Really Hate My Job" (directed by Oliver Parker) and acting in many other movies.
So, I was very happy to met her in person and to be allowed to take a few snaps with her. My friend, Romanian journalist Andrei Dimulescu, was interviewing her for a Romanian magazine and he invited me to take some photos. Here are two of the images taken.

Day 401 - See Orange
This year, for the sixth time, I was appointed in the Jury of the National Photography Contest "See Orange" organized by Orange Romania S.A. This year theme was "play". We, the jury, worked two full days to review the images and finally, yesterday afternoon, we sorted out the winning selections at each contest category. The jury team was great, the time spent was fun and finally we were all happy with the chosen winners.

Day 395 - The Wonderful Ladies of Mr. McGinnis
For me, the best "pin-up maker" is Mr. Robert McGinnis. This is because he is not doing only female characters as pin-ups. He is in fact a wonderful painter, a complete artist. But you will discover this surfing his site - Robert McGinnis Gallery of Illustrations and Fine Art Paintings at:

Apart from being a master of human anatomy and a great colorist, he knows how to enhance human forms and expressions with a certain noblesse and distinction. More of that, he posses a unique sense of fashion, mixed with sexiness, retro-glamour and elegance. I just love his ladies! And it was a time when one could actually met such Ladies in flesh and blood. The glorious times of early "James Bond" movies, but also the times of Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman or Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot.
Here are some of my favorite "McGinnis Ladies". Rest of them you can enjoy on his site.

Day 394 - Corina
Several years ago, she was one of the Romanian Top models working in Paris. Now she's living in Los Angeles. She still works as a model. She is one of the most interesting and special women I ever met. I haven't seen her from 2001, I think. I remember her during nineties, in Bucharest, at the beginning of her modeling career. She was very tall, slim, silent, reserved, quiet, mysterious, but with gorgeous blue-green dreamer eyes - mesmerizing gaze! She knew from the beginning that Romania is not the country to start a professional modeling career. She left the country quickly and she made it big in Paris.
So here it is - today we met again, we talked a lot over a coffee (me) and a glass of white dry wine (her). Her charm remained unaltered after all these years...

Day 394 - Ernesto Sabato
